deb_westmanWelcome to my blog! The reason for this blog is to share with you my unexpected journey.

When I tell people I have been diagnosed with cancer, they are shocked. I’m a healthy weight. I eat nutritious food. I get plenty of exercise through gardening, walking dogs, and taking care of my family of four.

It all started New Years Eve 2010. Phone rang at 4 o’clock and the doctor’s first comment, “I don’t have very good news for you.” This phone call started my journey into the unknown.

The beginning of 2011 I underwent surgery to remove the melanoma site on my upper left thigh. Surgery was a success; 5 sentinel lymph nodes removed. I thought I dodged the bullet.

November 2011 a small bump appeared within 8″ of the original site. CT testing indicated it was back. Did it leave or did it never go away?

I want to share my journey with you, as you are a very important part of my life. I have an awesome support team, and I just know I will get through this in time.

Enjoy my posts, feel free to comment.

Sincerely,

Deb Westman

  1. Deb my thoughts and prayers are with you. You never appreciate someone until they are gone. when you get back i am sure that i will have a few unbelivable situations to tell you about. It is hard to find someone that understands.:)

  2. Hi Deb,

All our thoughts and prayers are with you during these trying times.

I know that God will give you the strength to pull through this.

Even though Bruce and i are far away, we think of you and the family all the time.

    We love you.

    Aunt Pat and Bruce.

  3. I’m not surprised to hear that you’re still trying to be the energizer bunny! It sounds like typical Deb to me…which is a good thing. So happy to hear about the clean scans and good news. We miss you!

  4. Thinking of you.

  5. Deb,

I apologize for not keeping in touch from San Diego, and now Charlotte, NC! I just found out about your blog and the enormity of what you have on your plate (to put it into your terms). I look forward to savoring every word you have written, and have no doubt it will be inspiring. I am appreciative for your support and kindness when I needed it. My hope is that you enjoy at least one ‘success’ today, and that you feel our love and support – even from a distance. You will remain in our thoughts and prayers.

    Love,
Barb Linklater Hohman (Tom, Jane, and Leah)
